Godfrey understands how critical sustainability is for our planet, our clients, and their customers. We are taking steps to make sure we operate our business in an environmentally responsible manner.
Relocation and renovation
Sustainability was a chief consideration in Godfrey’s decision to move to its current
location in Lancaster, PA. The relocation allowed Godfrey to participate in the rehabilitation and re-use of an existing structure in a central downtown location.
During renovations, Godfrey consulted with the developer regarding features including:
- Low-energy light fixtures and lamps
- On-demand hot-water heating
- Low-flow toilets and aerators on sinks
- Zoned HVAC system with night-time and weekend setback (using high-efficiency systems from client Johnson Controls – Unitary Products)
- Windows that can be opened for ventilation during mild-temperature days
- Resilient floor areas covered with low-maintenance, durable rubber flooring (from client nora systems, Inc.)
Small steps to big changes
We have also made small eco-friendly changes in our day-to-day business lives by:
- Installing web, video- and teleconference capabilities to conduct business nationwide and globally with minimal air travel.
- Recycling and re-using printer and toner cartridges and emphasizing the use of “draft” print settings and paper produced by environmentally responsible mills.
- Separating and collecting materials supported by local municipal recycling programs.
To ensure that these efforts continue and grow, Godfrey established a Sustainability Task Force. Comprised of employees concerned about green issues and experienced in sustainabily practices because of their
Godfrey client work, the task force continues to look for opportunities to lesson our impact on the environment and be responsible in our everyday lives.
