Associate Creative Director


Position Description:

The Associate Creative Director is the internal voice of creative at the account level, and a key leader on his/her assigned accounts. This role is expected to immerse in their clients’ businesses, technologies, products and markets, and to truly “own” the work produced by the creative team. The Associate Creative Director supports the Creative Director and pushes ideas, creative and the work to ensure creative output aligns with client strategies and industry best practices. In addition, this role leads the development and presentation of campaign concepts and key creative executions to the Creative Director and the Account Services team. This role also oversees message unification and brand consistency working in collaboration with the rest of the core creative team. The Associate Creative Director works with the Creative Resource Manager and the Traffic Manager to align creative resources with project/account needs, and ensure efficient execution and work flows smoothly.

The Associate Creative Director pulls the Creative Director into core team discussions when high-level creative strategy is needed to provide guidance and direction. They work directly with the Creative Director, in collaboration with the Executive Creative Directors and within Godfrey’s creative and concepting methodology to help push account creative to new levels and ensure effective concepts are developed and sustained through execution.

Essential Duties:

  • Ensure work is smart, impactful and brand-centered
  • Transform complex concepts into solutions that communicate with real people
  • Provide creative leadership and actively work with writer/art director teams and agency experts in development and technology
  • Deliver strategic communication solutions that transform complex concepts into solutions that communicate with real people and helps our clients meet their marketing and communications objectives
  • Ensure work is smart, impactful and brand-centered
  • Collaborate and contribute to the creative process as a leader of a creative team, and as a member of their assigned account teams
  • Work with the Creative Director and core team on high-level creative strategy
  • Direct the creative function so that the environment, culture, team, capabilities, tools, processes, expectations and other elements support the strategic goals
  • Work with the Creative Director and Executive Creative Directors on high-level concept development and execution
  • Work with the Creative Director and other members of the creative team to develop client presentations
  • Ensure that the creative function operates in an efficient, profitable manner
  • Maintain consistently high standards for him/herself and others on the team
  • Write and present cohesive and persuasive rationales for campaign approaches internally to the Account Manager and Creative Director
  • Ensure that art and copy work in close collaboration together
  • Deliver on-time, high-quality and error-free work that gets results

Education, Experience and Capabilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field preferred
  • Experience level desired: 7+ years (at least 2 in B2B preferred)
  • Agency experience: Mandatory
  • Superior Leadership, collaboration and presentation skills
  • Superior problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Excellence in managing/supervising, and motivating staff
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills, planning, time-management and follow-through skills
  • Superior understanding of marketing principles, marcom strategies and tactics
  • Demonstrated talent for creative concepting
  • Strong digital and content strategy, content marketing background
  • Ability to judge creative concepts and copy, and clearly communicate creative direction
